I am officially on Thanksgiving BREAK! Wahoo! Yesterday was a day of Turkey Day Fun in my classroom.
We didn’t do one itty bitty bit of real work.
Shhh.
Don’t all teachers know that the day before a break is pretty much a lost day?
A day where we are LUCKY to escape without a RAGING migraine.
I decided if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em and went all out in the Thanksgiving Hoopla.
Here are some of the FUN things we did!
I really LOVED these free Doodle coloring pages. I love that there are patterns and designs inside which makes this a more appealing coloring page for older kids.

I canNOT find the “Things I’m Thankful For” Turkey page we did, but I challenged the kids to write what they were thankful for and WHY they were thankful for it, to try to discourage those trite, one word answers they are used to giving… God, Bible, Family, etc. Here’s a sort of similar one I found…

We did a super cute Leaf Turkey that I really should’ve taken some pictures of! You just cut out one smaller brown circle for the turkey head and one larger one for the turkey body. Then glue the smaller turkey head on the turkey body and glue actual leaves behind the body as 3D turkey feathers!

Haylee took home some of the supplies I had laid out and did her own version… with drawn on feathers. :)
While we were working on our projects we listened to some Thanksgiving songs…
Blessings by Laura Story
And this Southern Gospel oldie… Thank You Lord, for Your Blessings on Me….
And this one… Thank You, Lord…
I also found this Thanksgiving video on Pinterest… The Night Before Thanksgiving is such a cute book! Have you ever read it?? This is a youtube video of a narrator reading the story while the illustrations are shown.
Wade’s class had a Thanksgiving program and feast today and I loved his turkey headband and shirt!
His shirt says, “Turkeys unite. Eat ham!” Ha!
My mom always rocks the awesome Paper Bag Indian Vest.
If you have never made one of these, then you are missing out. Lemme tell you.
:)
In honor of all that yummy turkey we’ll be enjoying this week, here’s a great poem that two of my students recited in Chapel today…
“Funny Ode to Thanksgiving”
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize, and may your
Thanksgiving dinner… stay OFF your thighs!!
Love it all! And yes, the day before a break is exactly as you stated! It’s a little more challenging in pre-k at times, b/c you can end up trying to do lots of cute fun things that make MORE work and headache for yourself than you would like… but we survived. :) Hope you have an amazing break. -Feels good to have a few days off, doesn’t it? ;) I’m thankful for your friendship.
I just sat down at my computer, nervous if I would find quick craft ideas for the Gobble your Gibblet dog fun run, and here is exactly what I can do! Thanks so much.
