This challenge wasn’t too bad actually, except for the fact that you need to work quickly while all your frozen food is thawing out. I had the extra bonus that I was working against the “Davis Clock” as well. I knew he could wake up from his nap at any moment, and this wasn’t a project I could easily stop in the middle of to resume later.
Here was my before…
I didn’t really think it was too bad, but there were definitely some things in there that were freezer burned and needed to be trashed.
It definitely had been a while since it had been cleaned out. Ick! And just a tip for ya… Don’t start by spraying down the whole thing with your cleaner. It will just freeze!
The Straightened up Result…
It’s so nice having a better idea of what you even have in your pantry and freezer. Definitely helps my meal planning. :)
I did all that in just 25 minutes! And since Davis was still sleeping so sweetly for me, I decided to tackle the ever-messy outside of the fridge.
I didn’t stop for before pics, but just imagine stuff everywhere! Haylee thinks every single paper or drawing she works on is worthy of fridge time, and before long it has taken over.
It still looks somewhat clutter-y, but it is much better than before.
I decided to give her a special spot {See her turtle poem above?} and put it all in her hands. She can have one thing on the fridge at a time in her spot. Once she has something new she wants to put up, then she has to be willing to replace what’s already up there. Step two of her her decision process is then deciding if the picture coming down goes in the trash or her keepsake folder in her closet. I hate “breaking her heart” when I trash one of her prized pieces of art, so I really like putting all the decisions on her now. :)
Here’s the front looking all fresh and clear!
Ah! So refreshing without all the stuff!
I love having a calendar on the fridge! It’s a great find that is actually just a cheap-o locker calendar from the Dollar Tree… which is great because it’s magnetic and light. {Other calendars I’ve tried to put on the fridge with magnets ended up being a pain because they were too heavy.} I don’t know why I never thought of looking for a locker calendar before!
