Well, I am up to 15 weeks now. Yippee! I’ve made it this far! I had my OB checkup on Tuesday. I have gained 2 lbs since my last visit which I think for some reason seemed like a lot! But after talking to other people and reading some on the subject, I don’t guess it is very much.
It seems to me that I am bigger this time around than I was with Haylee. With Haylee, I didn’t make a big announcement at work until I was about 18 weeks and everyone was shocked to find out. I seem bigger, but maybe not significantly?
My baby belly seems obvious as the nose on my face, but I really don’t think that people at school have picked up on my little secret, though I have shared it with several people already.
I think that I have felt my first baby flutters, but I can’t be quite sure… I know this is around the time that I should be starting to feel movement, but I recognize the power of my crazy mind. I remember after Haylee was born, I still felt her “moving” occasionally. :)
I didn’t get an ultrasound at this visit :( but I did get to hear the baby’s heartbeat. It was nice and strong and such a comfort to hear. I am going back in October for my big ultrasound visit where we hope to find out what we’re having! Someone told me once that you should drink a Sundrop or Mountain Dew before your visit so the baby will be nice and active and not hiding or being modest! If I remember, I might try that… :)
I did try the “Swinging Necklace” method of determining gender. Anyone heard of that? I have heard of it many times, I suppose, but I’m not sure if I have ever actually seen someone do it. At a family dinner last weekend, Chris’s cousin pulled off her bracelet and showed me that I was having a boy. Then her mom did it with an actual necklace, and it showed that I was having a girl. I’ve done it several times at home and have gotten different results so who knows. For those of you new to the “Swinging Necklace,” the method they were doing was holding the necklace in front of the preggo belly and watching it swing. If it swings side to side, you’re having a girl. If it swings in circles, you’re having a boy! Simple, huh?
Well, I had heard of doing it over your wrist, I think, and it was actually supposed to give you all your children and their genders in birth order which gets a bit more complicated.
I think I will stick to the reliability of ultrasounds… they’re much more fun too. ;)
We think we have names determined for both options. I don’t know if I should share them or not…. hmmm….
Sometimes, I think it might be better not to share in case someone decides to snatch your name away. In my case, I don’t care if my own sister popped out another baby and suddenly decided on my chosen name. I would be mad at her, of course, but I would still stick with my name. :)
So, I guess I’ll share…
For a boy, Christopher Wade (and call him Wade)…
For a girl, Kendall Renee…
What do you think?
Well, I just tried the swinging necklace on my wrist myself and it said boy on my left hand and girl on my right. Weird. :)
I like the names and No, there will be no getting pregnant for quite some time and I would never intentionally steal a name idea cause that’s lame!
I can’t wait till you find out what it is. I’m going on record saying boy just cause that would be so much fun for you, Jen, and I to all have boys around the same time, Yay! :)
This post is too funny! I showed SO early with my second pregn. too, I think that’s common (muscles are already stretched, etc… I don’t know.) LOL. I can’t believe, judging by other pics you’ve posted in the past and how skinny you are in them, that people can’t guess that you’re pregnant?! Who knows. I love your names! I don’t think I’ve ever heard the name Kendall as a first name, but I LOVE it! I CANNOT wait to hear what you are having. I am SO EXCITED for you and your family – glad things are going so well.
I can’t wait to find out either!!! Both of those name fit your family as well.
