We have LESS THAN one week to Disney, peeps!!! The anticipation is killing us! We can’t wait!
I don’t even attempt to deny that I have a sickness when it comes to PLANNING, and with a huge vacation investment like this one, I am going in FULL OVERDRIVE planning craziness mode. :)
A week or two ago we took a tip from a Disney Vet {you know who you are!} and hit up our local Disney Store for some obnoxious Family Vacation attire… at a fraction of the cost, no less!
I was elated with the deals we got on everything… the kids’ shirts were around $5 and Chris and I found shirts for about $6-$10!
Bring on the Marvelous Matching Magic of Disney!
Disney is about 9 hours away, so our current game plan is to start our big trip Sunday and drive the majority of the way before stopping for the night. Monday we will check into our place early afternoon and have the rest of the night to rest and relax before our first day at the park Tuesday!
Since we’re staying off site, we can’t purchase the dining plan, but at the advice of our Disney Vet, we’re going to eat breakfast at our resort, take lots of snacks and juice boxes in for a late morning snack. Then we’ll eat a late-ish lunch/early supper at Disney and hope that will last us until it’s snack time back at our place!
I’m hoping this means we won’t spend a blasted fortune just on food for the week! :)
Here are my snack ideas…
- Fruit Snacks
- Animal Crackers
- Pretzels
- Tortilla Chips
- Oranges?? {We will be in Florida, right??}
- Granola Bars
- Frozen Gogurt {it will thaw by snack time}
- Capri Sun Pouches
- Water Bottles
What do you think? Any other ideas?
I would love any tips from all you Disney Peeps! So far, I’ve heard the wonders and praises of the fast pass system. I’m ready and willing to do ANYTHING to avoid waiting in long lines with two less than patient kiddos. :)
I’ve also heard of the photo pass where you can pass your camera {and photo pass card} to a lovely photo taking “cast member”! They also will take one with their fancy, smancy camera too, and will eventually try to sell you their fabulous shots for a pretty penny. It is kind of cool though, that you will have access to their shots online for 30 days after your trip, which means you at least could share them online even if you don’t wanna fork over the money for the prints. :)
I have been drooling over a fancy pants DSLR camera for simply ages, ha ha, and while we had thought about springing for one a few weeks back for our trip, we decided against it. Last night, however, we scrounged up our secret money stashes we had here and there including our change jar {It had $140 of LOOSE change that we all counted together as a fam, ha ha!} plus a few hundred in Discover Rewards and we did it. We pushed that big, bad, buy it now BUTTON and ordered ourselves a simply awesome camera!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
I also ordered this messenger style camera bag for easy toting…
I was able to sign up for the free trial of Prime, so we got FREE 2 day shipping!! That means it should be arriving TOMORROW!!!
Wahoo!! Wahoo!! Wahoo!!!
I downloaded the Disney World Wait Times FREE iPhone app with some really great sounding features to make our trip that much better. Things like…
- accurate wait times
- dining and restrooms near you using gps
- interactive maps
- planning tools… add events to your schedule and get alerts
Sounds pretty cool, huh?? Who knows if it will actually work and be beneficial, but we’ll give it a try!
Supposedly, you can park in Downtown Disney for FREE and get into the park that way… minus your $14 a day parking fee. I didn’t catch all the deets on that one, so anyone else ever heard of that? From what I can deduce on Disney’s website, it looks like there is complimentary self parking at Downtown Disney, and then you have to catch a bus to the Theme Parks. That actually sounds like it might work??
I loved these toddler traveling tips too and will definitely be planning on doing most of them!
The other day, Haylee searched for a Disney picture online she could replicate…
She also found this write up about Disney she copied…
Can you tell we’re all gaga over Disney??
FIVE DAYS and counting!!! :)
Don’t forget there’s still time to enter the awesome Scrapbooking Giveaway!!!
With not very many entries, you’ve got great odds!! :) Giveaway ends TOMORROW at midnight! ONLY ONE MORE DAY to enter!!!

Sounds like fun. Living in South Florida, we head to Disney a couple weekends a year. We always pack sandwiches. Stick them in a tupperware inside a ziplock or just a bag and just keep them in a cooler in the hotel. Then just stick them in your bag as you leave the hotel. It will save you a bundle and may fill you up a bit more than midday snacks.
Very well planned! Yes, you can park at Downtown Disney and ride the bus. What off site resort are you staying at? (wonder if it's the same as ours) The fast passes– they can run out, so for the rides you want them, get them early in the day. David waited an hour or so even in the fast pass :( at Epcot. Are you going to Epcot? That is the only one we went to….
we took frozen grapes (cause it was scorching hot in June!), crackers, lots of drinks, and Peanut butter nutella sandwiches.
David has to have some sort of protein every few hours (cause of his wonderful high metabolism that keeps him skinny, don't you just love people like that.) So peanuts and PB sandwiches worked for him.
I can't wait to hear what you find in September, but I am thinking that you won't find really long lines. We really didn't think they were that bad, even the reg. ones, especially in June compared to 6 Flags. Plus having the waiting areas INSIDE and air conditioned, etc. helped SOOO MUCH!
Thanks for all the tips!!!!
The frozen grapes and sandwiches are good ideas!!
Yeah we are going to epcot! We'll be there for 6 days, so we're going to try them all minus the water parks!
How exciting!! I hope y'all have a fabulous trip! We haven't been yet, but we're looking forward to the day that we do.
You can freeze PB&J sandwiches ahead of time; they thaw nicely by snack time.
Lance crackers (PB, cheese, etc.), Cheezit, Goldfish, and graham crackers are good.
If you are going to take a cooler inside with you, cheese cubes/string cheese are great. You can also grill some chicken strips ahead of time; they are good cold.
Apple slices work. Tuna pouches are another option, but you'll need forks.
Hope ya'll have a blast! And congrats on the new camera…I LOVE mine. It's my other child, goes everywhere with me!
Yay, I love the new camera!!!
We love Disney too! Take us with you! Take us with you!
I hope you have a wonderful time! I am soooooo excited for you! I am sure you are all going to have a WONDERFUL time! It's going to be soooo worth all your time, effort, and money to make all the memories and see the kids faces when you are there. Can't wait to hear all about it! Praying for safe travel, cooler weather, and an amazing time! ;)
