Family Birthday Dinner!

We are planning a yummy dinner of Stromboli tonight before we get the kids all DRESSED up and head out for some fun trick or treating!

I never really went as a kid, though I do remember being aloud to go once with a friend.  I think my mom was scared of things like razor blades hidden in the candy or something like that.  She must have watched a 20/20 to that effect.  Is 20/20 that old?  I don’t know.  Apparently hidden razor blades was a crime epidemic of the 80’s, because I certainly haven’t heard much about the danger from anyone except my mom!

Anyone else formerly trick or treat deprived but now you get to live through your costumed kids?

Anyway, dressing up the kids is just so much fun!  I can’t stand how CUTE their costumes are this year!!  I even somehow managed to snag them all WAY before the Halloween crunch, and I am EVER so happy I didn’t even have to darken the door of the madhouse that is Party City in October.

One of these years I may be as awesome as my cousin, Sherri and do themed costumes, but for now I’ll be happy with my squeezable trick or treaters.  :)

Hopefully we won’t freeze our little tails off tonight!

I am employing my stock the freezer tip and DOUBLING the Asian Pork Chops  cuz it’s super easy, so WHY NOT?!  I am loving that my freezer is seriously stocked, and I am continuing to be able to pull  a few meals a week to fix from there! I feel so domestic.  :)    And really, don’t those chops just look amazing???   Mmmm, I am ready for a tasty, steaming bite already.  :)

I was stumped for another meal this week and decided to type “easy crockpot” into Pinterest {Oh, how I ♥ thee.} and found this recipe called Easy Crockpot Chicken from My Blessed Life.  Can’t wait to try it and see if it’s a hit.  I am doubling this one too, wahoo.

I’ll be pulling the Hawaiian Chicken straight out of the freezer Friday and into the crockpot!  I recently read a great tip that probably EVERYONE else with freezer meals already knows, but hey, I’ll share it anyway, just in case.  :)  A quick way to thaw your frozen ziploc bag o’ dinner in just 60 seconds is by running it {closed} under HOT water in the sink! How amazing is that??  {Humor me if you learned this in 6th grade after your sewing lessons.  Some of us did not lead such lives, K?}

What’s even cooler, is that after pouring the now ‘thawed-ish’ meal in the crockpot, I can put a bit of water in the bag, close, and shake it up to get all the leftover spices and sauces that were left behind.  Then I just open the bag and pour ‘em right in over my meal.  Love it!

FIVE meals prepped this week in less than 26 minutes!!  :)
