With #3, things just don’t seem real to me. I think because I have no beautiful crib set up displaying my proud new bedding purchases to constantly remind me that like it or not, things are changing. No bassinet with soft blankets ready for the sleepless nights. :) Wade is still sleeping in the crib and the bassinet is being borrowed but since we really have no room for it… getting it sooner rather than later is not really the best choice.
Haylee had a beautiful room all set up just for her every whim… fully decked out with all things Suzy Zoo…
So since this poor deprived middle child is just going to have to wait like his momma for his own space, the reality of his quickly approaching invasion has somehow managed to escape our minds.
He is now the size of a Honeydew. Our little Honeydew that in only two more weeks will be considered full term… Ready or not, this honeydew is coming.
I got my call back from the doctor with the verdict on my hemoglobin levels. The nurse was all very doom and gloom-this is bad news, letting me know that my levels were a 10. Which I guess is low and all, but at my last check I was an 8, so I thought getting up to a 10 was good news! Apparently, a 10 isn’t bad enough to do the iron injections, so she tried to convince me to take the iron supplements. When I let her know that I just couldn’t do that since they DID NOT agree with me, I mean REALLY did not agree with me, she recommended just taking two Flintstones vitamins a day.
Well, let me just say that I don’t know WHY my kids love taking those because I ate one and thought it was absolutely revolting. I am going to try and see if they’ll just let me take two prenatals a day since I can handle swallowing a vitamin more than chewing one up. Ick. Making me sick just thinking about how gross it tasted.
What’s weird is that I’ve been anemic with all three pregnancies, but normally they tell my I’m anemic, give me the iron supplements, I don’t take them, and they never say anything else about it! Somehow I didn’t manage to get away with that this time. Some of the bad things that can happen with anemia are lots of bleeding during delivery which can mean needing blood transfusions as well as not being able to to get an epidural… not to mention a total lack of energy in the meantime.
In other news, we are attempting to potty train the Wild Wadester which mostly just means we decided to bite the bullet and buy the ridiculously overpriced pull ups instead of diapers.
What’s funny is that lately he has started saying, “I need to go to the bathroom!” all proper like. I think somehow my mother has influenced him subconsciously all the way from Florida since she abhors the word “potty.” Though I think her pet peeve really applies to more of the 6 or 7 year old that is still using the “p” word. Mom, you would be so proud.
So we are just easing into potty training without really making a big deal out of it, but he is slowly making some progress. He has woken up dry from his nap, and in the morning too. I have read that is one of the signs they may be ready to potty train… when they can wake up in the morning dry. Sooo, maybe we are getting closer to this elusive potty training goal.
We shall see…
