Today we are heading out of town for a few days without the kids. Which is crazy since we didn’t get away for FOREVER, and now we’re getting away kid-less twice in a month. Wow.
Going away WITH the kids is pretty awesome too, though. It is such coolness to see the excitement and thrill in their faces when they get the chance to do some new things and even just getting to stay in a new place. :)
Wade even kept calling the cabin our “new house” ha ha!
Our first night we headed to the lake for some great fun at the water!
The water was nice, and it wasn’t too crowded which is always a plus. There was even a cute little playground on the beach for some extra fun. As we were leaving, they were setting up for some smores and a bonfire, but we decided to head back to get the crew bedded down for the night. :)
Davis had a blast in the water… he loves his little baby float thankfully! :) Wade and Haylee loved it too! They were happy to be able to take off their floats and life jackets since the water was so shallow. :)
While we were there, we did most of our eating in, and I was excited to get to use this for Davis…
It worked so well for this trip and was much easier to pack than a big bulky booster seat. It just slides right over the back of the chair and ties, and the the baby just buckles right in. :)
Coolness, huh?
We went for a swim at the pool and lazy river in the morning while it was a bit cool, and later in the afternoon we headed out to play some… in the sweltering heat!
We are so smart like that.
Haylee and Daddy took a round on the gigantic checkers while Wade tossed the beanbag before trying to knock down all the pieces on the chess board. :)
Later that night we rented a pontoon boat and headed out on the water for a couple of hours… It was definitely something different to do, and we were excited about it!
We cruised around and even got to see for ourselves the Dirty Dancing movie site… Wade knocked out before we got back. I guess the lull of the rocking boat was just too much. :)
It was a fun, jam packed few days. I’m so glad we have these times to spend with the family squeezing in some extra doses of marvelous fun-ness. :)
Vacation with small kids is not without its struggles and challenges FOR SURE, but it is worth it for the amazing memories we’re creating!
