Birthday’s were always SO big in my house growing up. The birthday person was always made to feel so special and had free reign for the day to do or not do whatever they wanted (within reason, of course). Birthdays are not as big of a deal to my wonderful husband. Maybe he would agree that for a kid you should go to all the effort and make a big deal of everything. BUT, after 7 years of marriage, he lets me have my special day. He gave me such a wonderful day yesterday. I have one more year now to be in my 20’s. So sad, you know.
Monday and Tuesday are usually my grocery shopping days so I went ahead and tried to knock that out in the morning. I went out to lunch at Subway with Bette Anne, Sam and Heather which was wonderful because I love Subway, and Chris refuses to go there. I had a sweet onion chicken terriyaki sub on honey oat bread. MMMM good!
Chris got off work early and came home to spend the afternoon and evening with me on my special day.
Before we headed out to go shopping…yay!!!…and dinner, Chris brought me my present. I looked in the bag, and nearly had a heart attack. I had been hinting that I wanted something that was really expensive, and Chris kept saying there’s no way he could spend that much. Well, much to my surprise, he was bluffing. He got me a CRICUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have no idea. If you’ve never heard of them, check out their demonstration video. Basically, you type in the phrase or shape you want, push cut, and the amazing machine begins cutting it out. When it’s finished you just pull away the excess paper, and there are your letters ready to go. It will blow your mind!!!! I’ve already started playing with it, and I’m in love.
Bette Anne knew I was getting it, and she got me a ton of accessories to go with it. A cartridge, paper, extra blades, a case of tools to aid the process, and some extra cutting mats. She actually gave me her present first, but said that this would get me started, and if I wanted I could exchange all that stuff to put towards the machine. She fooled me, because I couldn’t believe it when I opened that bag.
I also got Gilmore Girls Season Six dvds from Sam and Heather. Whoo hoo. I have Seasons 1,2,5 and 6 now. :)
After playing with the Cricut for a while, we headed off to the great Concord Mills for some shopping and then afterwards we had a wonderful dinner at Olive Garden. Chris is NOT a fan of pasta, so I can not even remember the last time I had been there.
It was an extra special treat as I sat there unable to choose from all the scrumptuous things on the menu. And don’t even get me started on the salad and breadsticks. Could anything be better?
We headed home and watched a silly movie, enjoyed some Carvel ice cream cake, and then I even got a fabulous back rub courtesy of the greatest hubby on earth who succeeded in making my day so very special.
Happy Birthday again!! Hope it was good!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Matt and I are the same way – I always thought bdays should be a big deal, and he could care less. -What’s with that?? Glad though, that your hubby gave you such a special day and that you got such AWESOME gifts!!! (Seriously, I’m green with envy over your Cricut machine! LOL!) And, yes,… what could be better than the salad and breadsticks at O. Garden?? (Scrumptious!) :p Sounds like you had a great birthday.
You deserve it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I’m so glad you had such a special day! Wow, you were really spoiled!
Andy and I have our birthdays on the same day, so its a bit harder to make as big a deal on things like that. However, we do the best we can!
I love that CRICUT I call it the “cricket” ;). You’ll have to post anything you make with it ;).
Happy belated “Birthday”.
Actually it IS pronounced “Cricket.” I thought it was cry-cut, but if you go on the website they pronounce it “cricket.” My sis thought it was cricket and I thought it was crycut. Oh well. :)
