Today was “Decade Day” at school, and it brought quite the interesting combination of outfits. From 50’s poodle skirts to 70’s tie-dye and afros, there was a little from all genres. My pal, Heather so very graciously loaned me her retro style dress which is actually new. I think she bought it within the last 6 months or so. It just goes to show you that all styles seem to eventually circle back into style again.
I really loved the dress and tried to add my accessories that would dial it back a few decades. :) I’m so grateful that she loaned it to me and I’m not being a choosy beggar, but I don’t know how you wear it, Heather! The crinoline lining of the skirt was sooooo very scratchy on my poor legs! I can see why women of that era wore layers of nylons, slips and girdles. It was to protect their bare legs from the miserable crinoline, I’m sure! :)
I also wore my Grandma Swaringen’s hat and I rummaged through my mom’s jewelry box and found some pearls. I asked Chris how I looked this morning, and his answer was, “Are you trying to look like a Grandma?” :) I was pretty much fine with that…
I got some smiles and positive comments which was good. I did get called grandma by one of the teachers, and Jackie Kennedy by another one! :) I prefer Jackie to Grandma…
I love the Elvis kid, that is too much fun! :) Pretty sad when some of the kids don’t even dress up! I can understand some adults being all stuffy, but 5th Graders! ;)
WOW!!!! You rocked that dress!!!! I think I may have worn it twice, but I don’t remember it being scratchy. I will take your word for it! Ahh, you are making me miss the school days of spirit week with your posts!!!! =)
I love the outfit! At least you’re having fun, right? LOL. The dress is so pretty…
love the outfit! Too cute:)
Hee hee, I love your hairdo! Sounds like you had fun!
I meant to write that I really liked your hair with the big curls. :)
