I am NOT a Fashion Expert or a Fashion Diva, but I do love fashion and trying new things and new looks. The challenge, of course, for me always comes in keeping up with the fashion while not breaking the bank. :)
{Sigh!} If only money WERE no object, I would have a LOT more fun with FASHION!
My other challenge lies in the fact that shopping WITH kids is JUST not worth it most days. I’m pretty sure I’m weird, but I almost NEVER go shopping with the crazy three unless Chris is there. {That’s weird, isn’t it?} Dragging the kids out somewhere involves a precise military op in order to coordinate between homeschool lessons, naps and meals. The stars most often never align in order to provide the most opportune shopping moment, so most often my tush stays home so I can keep my sanity. :)
I assume that the older they get, the easier this will be {maybe?} but for the moment it is where we are in life, and it’s what we do. :)
One of the blogs I enjoy reading has something she does called Fashion Friday, and I love seeing the outfits she puts together. For some reason, I thought little old me should try it too, since it is fun for me to see what outfits people are wearing and to chat with friends about outfits and accessories too. I’m already beginning to doubt myself about this plan, but oh well!
It might turn into something regular, or this may be the only Fashion Friday ever to grace the walls of this blog! :) Depending on how silly I feel afterward, probably! :)
I apologize for how awkward these pictures are. It’s obvious I don’t really know how to stand or where to look, and really is it even possible to take a normal looking self portrait or picture of yourself in the mirror?? :)
Okay! I can’t put it off anymore! Number One!
I don’t get the chance to dress up for special occasions very often, but it was fun to be able to for the Tim Hawkins concert! I got this little dress from Target last summer when I was preggo with the Davis Man since its roominess allows for growing bellies. It’s Mossimo I think, and is one of the most comfy dresses ever!!
These white wedges were a steal the end of last summer from Shoe Carnival. :) My little lacey tank is from Old Navy. I’m pretty sure this will make me even weirder, but I have this little thing about cutting off the whole bottom of a good “underneath tank.” I hate having the whole extra layer of an undershirt, but I often need a shirt underneath stuff so it’s not too hoochie mama. Who wants MORE thickness in their midsection?? Plus it’s so much hotter in the summahtime. Cutting off the bottom six inches gives me the coverage at the top but doesn’t come with the extra weight at the bottom.
I know. I’m weird.
Moving on… Number Two…
If I’m honest, I’m pretty casual and comfy most days since we usually just stay around the house, but for a fun night out with other Homeschool Moms, I put on some of my favorite jeans and a semi dressy-ish shirt to feel like I was looking speshul. :) {And, see? I told you. Another underneath white “shirt.”} :)
I love Gap jeans for their comfort and look, though the more I am hearing about the wonders of designer jeans, the more I am tempted to give them a try. :)
I have pretty much taken a break on necklaces these days. Davis LOVES to pull, pull, pull! My big bangle bracelet is from Premier Jewelry.
Number Three…
This is my Super Casual Comfy look. :) The older I get and the crazier my wild ones are, the more I think about COMFORT when I’m thinking of what to wear when I’m heading out with them in tow. This outfit was a super comfy one, but regardless of the comfort, I love the v neck and the LONG length of the tee and super flattering cut of the shorts.
The tee was a Walmart purchase, and the shorts were from Ross. I just love the deals I can find at Ross. It is definitely one of my go-to places when I’m on the hunt. It’s hard to beat it, really.
And I can’t neglect to mention one HUGE staple of my wardrobe… my favorite brown leather flip flops from Gap. I think I pretty much wear them constantly with almost everything. :) I just replaced my old pair on the way back from Disney a few weeks ago, and they were on sale for $12.99 I think. Unfortunately, that means flip flop season is nearing to a close, wah!
Numbers Four & Five…
I love this little striped jacked I got at Goodwill! Whoo hoo for fashion on the cheap! :) My favorite Gap Jeans again and even my Gap flip flops too though you can’t even see them. I wasn’t kidding when I said I wear them all the time! :)
I love that I can wear lots of different colored tops with the jacket or even white. Options, options, options are always GOOD to have. :)
Well, that’s it! I survived my FIRST Fashion Friday! Hope it wasn’t as awkward for you as it was for me, ha ha! :)

You make me laugh out loud! Always the snappy dresser! Me, I am totally about comfortable.
Thanks for sharing! I'm like you and wear my favorite Old Navy flip flops with everything. Those jeans look comfy! I might have to get me a pair from Gap. Did you ever try the secret cami's? They are awesome!
I love your hair! What's the haircut/style called? It looks like you just straighten the front pieces. I have natural curly hair and I think that style would look good on me.

I have tried the Secret Camis but I wish they didn't have the lace on them since most of the time I need a more casual undershirt. And I had them ride up some probably from holding Davis and having him pull on my shirt etc. The thought of the whole little thing popping out skeered me a bit! :)
I don't think there is actually a name for the hairstyle! But yeah, you're right. I just flat iron the front sections around my face. I also flat iron the ends all around and some of the poofy ends of the layers too.
What can I say, I'm complicated. :)
The Gap jeans are "premium flare" but I also love the "long and lean" style too. Supposed to be good at making you LOOK long and lean! :)
You are brave! I've often thought about joining Pleated Poppy's WIWW, but haven't been able to take the plunge. I'm definitely not the most fashionable person in the world…which is why I always look at the posts because I need inspiration! =) And that's just hilarious about cutting off the undershirt. I'm always tugging mine down so I think that would make me crazy, lol.
let's try this again – my comment wouldn't post at work :)
LOVE this feature! hope you keep it going :) and yes, as Laine said you are braver then me too! :) although I am trying to work on the "fashion" part
so about the cami's – I wear them ALL THE TIME too. I might have to try cutting some of them off like you said cause I can't stand seeing the "line" where it ends especially under a dress. so after you cut them off, do you still see a line where it ends? and how much do you leave?
LOVE the striped jacket – so cute and versatile! :)
I love all of your outfits! You are beautiful!
Nice to meet another BJ DL mom! :)
Cute! I love the jacket. And yes, good jeans appropriately fitted are awesome!!
