Family Festivities…Swaringen Side

Bette Anne has finally arrived. Last Thursday her flight was scheduled to come in around 6 pm, so all the family made plans to meet at the airport and/or eat dinner at Cracker Barrell in celebration. The last time we tried to plan Cracker Barrell around her arrival ended badly, but we didn’t learn our lesson. We decided to try it again.
Haylee was so excited, because 1) We’re going to the airport to pick up Aunt B; 2)We’re going to Cracker Barrel after; 3)We’re going to see Jared, her cousin; 4)She’s going to spend the night with Grandma and Aunt B.
Poor girl, none of the four actually happened. :( Because of the bad weather and some other scheduling problems her flight from DC was delayed, and then delayed again, and then delayed again. She didn’t get in until 9:30 pm that night. They did stop by on the way home to say hi for a bit, but the big night of festivities was not to be.

Tuesday, Mack, Jen and Jared as well as Mom, Dad and B met at our house for dinner as a “Plan B” celebration. Our house is kind of in the middle of Mom’s and Mack’s so it seemed like a good plan since it was a weeknight. I had a crazy busy day Tuesday and didn’t get home until about 5 pm to start preparing. Fortunately, everyone was late so I had time!

This was my first time to host the family for a meal, and I was excited! We even got the leaf for the table down from the attic to fit all the fam together. Jared and Haylee even got to sit at the “kids table.” I hope it is the beginning of many more to come.

Poor Haylee! So much disappointment in one day. :) Glad to hear “B” made it home okay. It’s fun to host dinner’s in a new home, isn’t it?! I’m glad you were able to and had a good time. :)
