CVS Free Photos & Wgreens Drama

Just a Frugal Tip for all you out there that love to save some $$$ and get stuff for free or cheap! From now until May 17th, you can get a free 5×7 and 8×10 at CVS. Just upload your photos online and select 5×7 and 8×10.

Then enter the code “enlarge” to get the discount to free! You can pick up at your local store or have them shipped to you.

Walgreens just did this on Wednesday as a Mother’s Day promotion and I took advantage of the offer and did one on both of our email addresses… sent to two different stores so I wouldn’t have to pick up two at one place. ;) Theirs was actually only a free 8×10, but still two free 8×10’s for free is pretty good in my book.

I did get my blood pressure a-rising when both Walgreens called to give me grief b/c they said my pics were professional and as a result I would need a Photog Photo release signed by the photographer. The lady did not care when I informed her that it was my sister who took the shots. She harped a bit about the law and legalities and other such nonsense.

Rude Lady: “If she gets paid to take pics, then she is a professional.”
Me: “So if I take someone’s pics and charge them $5, then I am a professional?”
RL: “Uh…(stammer, stammer)… no. It also depends on how the photos look and they look professional.”

When she asked me in that forced polite tone, “Is there anything else I can help you with?” I asked to speak with someone else.

Rude Lady: “No, I’m the manager.”
Me: “You’re the store manager?”
RL: “Yes.”
Me: “You’re the manager of the whole store, and you work in the photo lab?” ( I know, I know. I was a bit snarky, but it was so ridiculous!)
RL: “Yes. I’m covering breaks.”

She eventually relented a bit, (So much for the law and legality nonsense, huh?) and said that I could fill out the form. I was still a bit peeved though, so I decided to call the CS line and after explaining my case the woman informed me that the mgr of that store was a MAN! So, RL straight out lied to me.
She called the store and let me know that I could fill out the form and give B’s information and then they would call her to get permission to print the photo. So incredibly crazy and senseless if you ask me. But, they didn’t ask me.

ALL that mess and when B picked up the pic for me (b/c I didn’t want the face to face drama with RL) they simply ripped off the form, threw it away and handed the pic to B.
Wow!

So… go get your free pics. Hopefully you won’t have all the drama to go with it! :)

So much to say. One: B should be glad they recognized her talent. Two: I wish I could have called, I love talking to people like that. Three: You learned that line from me, admit it. JK

“Snarky”? I’ve never heard that term before, but it’s very descriptive. I like it. I must remember that word. Hmmmm . . . “snarky” . . . .

Ha ha, I’m sure I won’t have anything like that trouble with Walgreens, as my photos don’t look anything like professionally done, lol!

You know, I had the same problem with Walmart when I tried to have reprints made of my grandparent’s wedding photos – 60+ years ago! I told the lady (with a heavy dose of disbelief in my voice), “You are seriously suggesting that I track down the photographer of these photos, who is probably dead, and who most likely didn’t survive WWII like my grandparents fortunately did?”

    – to which she stubbornly replied, “yes”.
