I ran across this recipe from Picky Palate early last year in the very beginning of my weekly meal prep journey, and it was a GRAND SLAM, lemme tell you.
This is one of my Top Five Dinners for sure. It is sooooo very good. And easy.
Do I even need to say that anymore? If I am posting a recipe, you can be darn sure it’s not going to be complicated, am I right? Every time I talk about a recipe, though, I somehow feel the need to rave on and on about how easy it was. I guess because I know that is often what sells me on trying something new!
Easy and delicious = a winning combination.
This one definitely meets the criteria and is a triple bonus for being KID FRIENDLY.

Seriously. Have I convinced you yet? I’m not even exaggerating one teeny tiny bit. It is unbelievably easy, and you will LOVE it!
Ready for the details?
Uh, yeah. You heard right. Only THREE ingredients. I wasn’t joking.
- Pork Chops
- Ranch Seasoning Dry Mix Packet
- 1 can Cream of Chicken plus 1 can water as needed {or 2 cans cream of chicken} This will depend on how fast your crockpot cooks and how long you’ll be cooking it.
Ready for the hard part? {I’m so funny. I know.} Combine all three ingredients in the crockpot and mix well. Yup. That’s it.
Or… if you are awesome and are prepping your meals ahead with the awesome 5 dinners in 1 hour weekly prep method, you can combine all ingredients in a gallon size Ziploc bag and squish around to mix.
This also freezes great! It is one of my favorites to double and send to the freezer! When I’m ready for it, I just pull the Ziploc out, run the whole bag under hot water in the sink for a minute or two and then just pour it all into the crockpot to get cooking.
Just cook on low for 4-6 hours.
It will send DIVINE aromas through your house, and it is packed FULL of flavor!!
The gravy is absolutely perfect for mashed potatoes or rice and is definitely FINGER LICKING GOOD.

I tried three of your recommended recipes this last week…
1. Ham and Cheese sliders – Total hit!! We loved them.
2. Asian pork chops – OMG!! Yummy! My 3 year old son ate a whole pork chop by himself and half of mine.
3. Sweet and Sour Chicken – This one was super yummy too.. my son ate the whole chicken thigh by himself.
Seriously.. I haven't gotten Joshua to eat this good in a long time. I love your recipes, so I am most certainly going to have to make the above recipe.
mmm… this looks good. I actually made Ranch pork chops this week but baked them in the oven because ….ahem…. I didn't realize it was already 4 pm and I hadn't put them in the crockpot yet. :(

Here's a money saving tip on your pork chops (I think Walmart should do this for you?? do they have someone working behind the butcher counter?)
I buy pork loin when it goes on sale for $1.99/lb. Pork chops usually range around $3.99/lb. The pork loin will usually be 4-5 lbs. (so $8-10) and I will get the butcher (for FREE!) to cut it into 1 inch or thicker chops (while I do the rest of my shopping). I usually get 12-14 THICK chops for my $8. I just bought one last week, it was $7 and got 12. When I get home, I separate 4 each to a ziploc bag and we have meet for 3-4 meals for $8 :)
You can cut it at home too but who wants to handle and cut all that raw meat…not me! :(

This looks so easy. We have a couple of nights a week where I'm at the gym between 4-5 and come home with hungry kids. So the crockpot is my friend. Honestly I think it's every mom's friend. :-)

so if you need to cook it longer, you can add a can of water?? i work long days and lots of recipes don't work for me.
I’m wondering this myself. Crockpot dinners during the week at my house cook for about 10 hrs, so I need to know whether to add a 2nd can of Cream of Chicken or a 2nd can of water per the instruction above. I’m thinking the 2nd can of chicken though…thicker liquid that will not evaporate as quickly?

Adding another can of soup will give you more gravy. If you worried about the liquid absorbing Id add the water and cook on low. If your using more chops or want more gravy, Id use two cans and you can use 1 can of water still. If your gravy is ever too thin use the cornstarch and water trick. As long as you stir it until there are no lumps you can thicken up any gravy in just a few minutes.
Yeah, pretty much! My old crockpot was enormous so it cooked things so quickly! The new one I got for Christmas is a 3 or 4 quart so things don't cook up and dry out so fast!
I work all day too, and I usually just add a little bit of extra liquid and leave it on low (some crock-pot recipes call for you to cook on high). All of the things I cook still turn out great…the only thing that was a little iffy was when I cooked beans for about 10 hours in the crockpot. They were pretty mushy.
Maybe crockpot makers should put a delay start time on their crockpots.

They do have crockpots with delays and also have some fancy ones out there that have a temperature and then switch to warm.
i use a christmas tree light timer for delayed start on my basic crockpot, works great and super cheap

Amy, I do freeze it raw, so I am not reheating when I eventually cook it. That means it tastes as fresh as if it weren't frozen, lol! :)

This is actually a crockpot liner bag! They sell them in the same aisle right near the oven bags and ziploc bags. They can be pricey, but the no clean up is awesome!
I bought a four pack of crock pot liner bags at WalMart tonight for $1.97. Not too bad considering that is four nights I don’t have to do dishes!
Since I use my crockpot at least 3 times a week (a life saver for a busy teacher), I buy liners on Amazon and get 25 for $12.68 – PanSaver EZ Clean Multi Use Cooking Bags and Slow Cooker Liners. So now cooking and clean up are super quick and easy.
Great looking recipe! Can’t wait to try. For those that work long days, I have the same problem when it comes to those recipes that call for 4 hrs or so. Alton Brown gave a great solution for this. Get one of those timers that you plug in to have lights come off and on when you are on vacation and set it to turn on 4 hrs (or however many hrs of cooking you need) before you want the meal done. I think it only works on the old school turn knob pots but it is great! Don’t forget to turn the crockpot on.

I think cream of mushroom would work just fine… would just give it a little bit of a different flavor.
Hey, want to try this recipe tonight! My pork chops are frozen though, do I need to thaw them out first, or is it ok to them in the crock pot frozen?
Silly question, but I’m new at using a crockpot. When a recipe says 4-6 hours, how do you know how long it will take? Is it cooked at 4 hours but can stay cooking an additional 2 hours? Do I set it for 4 hours then let it go on Warm after that? Thanks for the help – off to put this in my crockpot now…wondering when it will be done!
This may be too late to help you, but usually that time will depend on the size of your crockpot or how many porkchops you’re fixing. You can sometimes judge its “doneness” by how dried out it’s getting. Crockpot cooking definitely isn’t exact though so a bit more or less isn’t too big of a deal!

Either way will work! Frozen will just take longer to cook which may be helpful if you’ll be out of the house. :) Let me know how they turn out! Hope you love them!
I made these last night and all I can say is…what did I do wrong?? Everyone is raving, but my fiance and I were not impressed. We had to rinse the pork chops off before they were edible! The ranch mix was so overpowering and salty. It also made the liquid super thick, so it was difficult to avoid the salty mess! Next time (If there’s a next time), I think I’d add half a packet of ranch seasoning. We usually love salty, but this was just toooo much. Boo! I wanted to love these!
Oh no! Sorry they didn’t turn out well for you. :( I’m not sure why it was so salty. They are somewhat salty for me, but definitely not overpowering. Did you add the can of water too or just the cream of chicken?
Ashley, Just curious…Did you use Ranch Dressing mix, or the Ranch Dip mix? I’ve had this problem before, and wondered if this might have been what was wrong.

I’m making these right now and it looks like the gravy is separating and getting watery and clumpy. Weird? Anyone else had this happen?
Have you tried stirring it occasionally? I have had it watery at times, but not clumpy at all. Maybe some of the mix formed a clumped and needs to be stirred out? Sorry you are having trouble with it. I hope it will still be tasty for you. :)
I’m making the pork chops right now and am having the same problem. Instead of a thicker gravy-like sauce, its very watery inside the crock pot :( I followed all the directions exactly. Is my crockpot too hot?
Yep, giving it a good stir. Nothing yet. I’m guessing the culprit may be my old crockpot that I haven’t touched in the past few years. Tasted the meat and it was flavorless – like the sauce didn’t even sink in. Pumping it up to high for an hour to see if it makes any difference. Thanks again for the awesome recipe – even if we do get take out tonight! ;)
I have read many posts about gravy separating, I have found that if you heat the water and cream of whatever up first and mix it with whatever spices and then pour it in the slow cooker it usually wont separate. This works for any recipe using cream of ? soup. Just pour it in a bowl and put it in the microwave, only takes a minute. Or if you brown your meat first (recommended) you can heat it in the pan.
I haven’t tried this yet but am going to get the stuff this weekend to try it. I make a chicken that is very similar except I cut up potatoes to put in with it. Then you have ranch potatoes as well as Chicken (pork chops) Potatoes also pull out some of the saltiness in my chicken recipe.

Made this for Easter dinner and it was so good. Great taste but too watery. My husband made a gravy out of the liquid with some flour. Overall great recipe; next time I’ll add half a can of water.

I’m with Paula above: my gravy separated and the chicken was not flavored. If I’d been home, I would have pulled the chicken apart and let it sit a while, but I wasn’t home and we needed to eat right when we got home. I don’t think I’ll bother trying again. Bummer! I keep having problems doing chicken in the crock pot. :P

I made them and they were terrible and had no taste to them. I am going to do them with bbq sauce in the crock pot next time.
Dawn if you didnt like it in the crock pot try the skillet version. I use cream of mushroom it seems to have more flavor. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil and brown the pork chops…mix a package of ranch, 3/4 cup of milk and 1 can of cream of mushroom. I serve it with rice seasoned with 1/2 package of ranch.

I often find that the crockpot sucks the flavor out of food. I add lots of herbs & spices & things still taste bland. I am making this now for tonight & have hopes. Though I try to avoid cooking with canned soups in deference to my husband, I decided to try this & am hoping the (in my opinion) high sodium level in the soup will “help” the bland blahs. Of course I made it harder by sautéing onion & garlic & browning the chops. I used white wine instead of water & added some Worcestershire, Kitchen Bouquet (to “disguise the sort of cram base from the hubby!) & thyme. We’ll see!
This is a great and easy meal. Its also good with cream of mushroom :-)

I made these tonight. . .Amazing! I did change it up a bit. Instead of a can of water a did a can of skim milk. Also, the cream of chicken soup I got had herbs added to it. We put it over brown rice and drizzled the sauce over top. SO SO SO flavorful! Yum. . .Thanks for the recipe!
I did a can of cream of chicken and a can of water. it came out WAY too watery.
So next time I make it I’ll do it with the 2 cans of the cream of chicken and hopefully it will come out more like the picture above.

I had 4 thin cut pork chops & used 2 cans of cream of chicken & 1 can of water.. I also used Hidden Valley ranch “dip” and everything turned out perfectly!

Love this recipe with Chicken but instead of water, I add an 8oz block of cream cheese. I will definitely try your version as it is clearly less fattening.

I do know that the pinterest button on my little digg digg plugin that’s to the left doesn’t pull up an image when you use it, but if you have the pin it button downloaded to your toolbar then you should be able to pin that way. I don’t why the digg digg button won’t pull the image!

How much of the ranch dip do you put in the crock pot? I only have the large container of ranch dip.
It’s not the container. It’s the small envelope packet of dry seasonings. You can see it in the ingredient picture above…. you use the whole dry packet. :)

I am making this tonight but spicing it up a little. I using chicken, 2 cans of cream of chicken, Fiesta Ranch packet, mexi corn & multi colored bellpeppers. When it’s all done Im gunna put it over some rice! Already smells good!!

I was wondering…can you use the Italian dressing mix instead? Maybe have Italian Pork Chops? I love Ranch, but my husband doesn’t eat it. I made a chicken and rice in the crockpot today from a recipe I found on pinterest.
Use 1pkg cream cheese, 1 can cream of chicken, and 1 pkg italian dressing mix. put all this in with the chicken in the crockpot and let cook for 4-6 hours. That’s where I got the idea for your recipe to use the Italian dressing. I may give it a shot :)

The recipe worked out great! 4 hours of plenty of time for our slow cooker. We are a very busy family, so the crockpot is our best friend.. The kids and husband enjoyed this recipe. I added a bit of extra ranch dressing (not extra powder) and we will be saving this recipe. Super easy to make.

Making this tonight. I used Ranch Dip Mix not Salad Dressing Mix as that is what I had on hand. Hope it turns out good! Probably with serve with Rice. I added 1/2 can of water and I used pork chops with bones from frozen. I am cooking on high for a couple hours then switching to low since I am starting with frozen meat. (I use all my meat from frozen when using the crock pot….less planning.)
Made this last week and all I can say is O M G! I got a bite (literally) and when I went to serve myself, it was all gone! Definitely added this to my recipe book, perfect recipe!
Tried these tonight! So easy to make and the family loved them! Gobbled them all right up and I threw a ton of thin cut pork chops into the crock pot. They fell apart and together with the gravey it was just delish!

Has anyone ever tried chicken instead of the pork chops? I was going to make it tonight but I only have chicken.
So, I am dying to try this receipe, but I have pork chops with the bone in them, they are still on the thinner side.. but it will still be just as good, right?
So, I made these tonight.. they r very flavorful! My gravy wasn’t as thick as it looks in picture but still good. And a little on the salty side, but not overpowering, I used ranch dip seaspnong packets and not the dressing packets, I am thinking this is why it turned out a bit salty..will try the dressing pack next time.. and with chicken instead of pork! :) Thanks for the recipe!
I have found when using the dip instead of the dressing it is much saltier, but I like that! I am a salt-aholic :(
These were so delicious. I’m a sucker for anything with a small ingredient list & ranch packets. They were definitely watery (did the 1c cream of chx + water) but I added a little bit of flour to thicken it up towards the end. :) Thank you! This will now be included in the recipe cycle :))
I am skipping the water because we like thicker gravy. I figured the chops would create some yummy juices and that would be good enough.
Made this tonight and everyone loved it in our house. The gravy was on the thin side but it tasted fabulous! I would have added flour to thicken it but we were all out. I plan on using the rest of the left over gravy to cook rice in instead of water.

Made these tonight but with a few changes… I didnt add any more liquid with the condensed soup. I added about 2 ounces of cream cheese to cut down on all the salt from everything else…and I added a quarter of a sweet onion and half a chopped up red bell pepper. Served it over rice and steamed some peas to go with it. I think it turned out amazing! Will definately make it again!

I don’t know why but this dod not turn out for me :( My crock pot is very large and hot so a added about 2/3 can extra water and it was fine for a while but it ended up rubber pork swimming in watery soup. I might try it again without the extra water. Oh well, I learned my lesson.
My “gravy” came out a little watery, so I made a roux, added the liquid, and bam instant gravy. Thanks for this recipe, I normally make baked ranch chops, but this is an easy way to switch it up.
Delicious, my husband doesn’t usually like pork chops, loved these, and actually took leftovers to work! I let them cook on low for the full 6 hours, and you could cut them with your fork. I mixed the soup and ranch mix with pork chops and let it freeze until ready to use. I was afraid it wouldn’t taste good after being frozen, maybe I had to stir it a little more than usual but it was delish!

Tried this earlier tonight, and it was delicious. I left the chops in the crock pot for about 4 and a half hours, but they came out a touch on the cooked side. I’ll remember that for next time, and take them out a little bit sooner. As suggested, I used the remaining sauce/gravy with a side of mashed potatoes, and that was excellent as well.

Made this recipe this morning and had a sneak peek and a wee bite after four hours of being in the crock pot. Unbelievably delicious! I admit to adding a few things: 1/3 cup white wine, 1/2 cup sour cream, and snippets of fresh rosemary. Definitely will try it with chicken breasts, and will try it with cream of mushroom soup as well. Really, really great recipe!!
I am trying this tonight. I got some butterfly pork chops from Wal Mart with the yellow stickers(I love reduced priced goodies!)and I cut them in half. They are frozen, so I hope cooking them for 7 hours on high is going to be long enough. Trying one can of 98% fat free cream of celery and one can of cream of chicken. Can’t wait it smells delicious! I was wondering if this can be done with pork steaks instead of chops?
I have read many posts about gravy separating, I have found that if you heat the water and cream of whatever up first and mix it with whatever spices and then pour it in the slow cooker it usually wont separate. This works for any recipe using cream of ? soup. Just pour it in a bowl and put it in the microwave, only takes a minute. Or if you brown your meat first (recommended) you can heat it in the pan.

I came across this recipe on my FB page and I’m trying it tonight. I’m cooking it on low and I’ve used two cans of coc soup plus some water. Sounds really delish and I love that it takes only three ingredients.
This came out super watery. It tasted good but it was like ranch pork chop soup. Going to thicken it up with some Wondra. Hope that helps. Next time I’m only going to use half a soup can of water.
I just made this tonight, and even though I cooked it on low for 9 hours (I was at work), the meat was still juicy. I even used thinly sliced pork chops! They were falling apart a bit, so I had to be careful when dishing them out. I did use two cans of cream of chicken soup though, as well as one can of water. Just thickened up the “soup” a bit to make gravy before serving with mashed potatoes! Yum!!!

My boyfriend actually used the word “fantastic” when I made this! Which, if y’all knew him, that word doesn’t get used lightly :) This was a huge hit and I will definitely be making again. The pork was fork-tender and the flavor so savory! I served it with roasted red potatoes and right before serving added a little of the sauce from the crockpot and tossed the potatoes in it to lightly coat and they were outstanding!

From your comments Ive learned that I will brown my chops, put in a couple cubed potatos and a few mushrooms (I need to use up), warm my soup, 1/2 the dressing mix and 1/2 can H2O.
Before I put in the crock pot. cook on low for 5 or 6 hrs.

This is in my crockpot right now. I didn’t have any cream of chicken, so I used cream of celery. Instead of water or chicken broth, I am using vegetable stock. Hopefully it tastes ok. I was too busy to go to the grocery store.

If the gravy is too thin, it may be worth adding a tbsp of tapioca pearls when you dump everything in. They thicken slowly without a flour or cornstarch texture. I have seen them used in other crockpot recipes and they are found in the regular grocery store near pudding or something’s in baking aisles.
Just wanted to comment on a post suggesting using a timer to delay the start of the cooktime. This is not suggested as it allows harmful bacteria to build up in the food that is sitting at room temperature. This is also the reason that newer crockpots run at a higher temp than the older crockpots did. Some people think that the bacteria will be “cooked off” in the cooking process,but this is not the case. You cannot “cook off” that type of bacteria. That is food that has “gone bad” and can make you very ill.
I cringe when I see those plastic crockpot liners! Many people don’t realize how many chemicals that are leaching into their food, by using these liners.
can you really cook with the freezer bag in the crockpot?? Saw the picture and wondered. Would be heaven if you also had NO cleanup.
They are called slow cooker bags. You can find them by the oven bags in the Ziploc bag section. They are WONDERFUL!
Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix has MSG in it. I found that the brand Aldi sells does not have MSG in it! Yay!

Made this dish tonight and it was very good. I had 8 pork chops so I used a family size can of cream of chicken soup and TWO packets of ranch dressing mix. Added only about 1/3 can of water but still found the sauce too thin–thickened it with about 2 tbsp of a flour/butter paste 2 hours before serving and it was perfect. Will make again.
