I am officially off my rocker, I think.  I am leaving today on a 10 hour trip SOLO with my two little ones.  I know many other mothers have gone before me in this path of road trip mania, but this is my FIRST ever “solo” road trip.  I have somehow escaped prior to now.  “Desperate” times have brought me to this crazy choice…

1) Chris doesn’t get any vacation time his first year at this job.  Our anniversary trip in April and our trip to the beach in July will both be unpaid time off.  :(  Sooooo, that means he can not afford any extra time off to go too.
2) I haven’t been to mom’s since they moved there last summer.  Since I am the last of the three kids to visit, I am worried about my favorite child status.  We don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that, you know. (Ha ha… as if!)
3) We have a little invader due to take over the family in September so any crazy road trips must take place before the invasion occurs. Plus… mom is off for the summer, so we gotta visit now!

I plan to be armed with lots of snacks, drinks, books, toys, and of course… the holy grail of traveling with kiddos… the DVD player.  Oh yes, that’s right. I hope to lure my little ones into sweet solace with hours of mindless entertainment.   I am not worried about Haylee, but Wade is another story.  Hopefully, he will be taking a loooong nap on the way and will give his mama a break and be a lil’ angel.

I am worried about my navigational skills getting me there safely… I leave much to be desired navigationally.  In spite of having my printed google maps directions and step by step instructions given to me by my *hated* gps, I somehow still can manage to get turned around.

Think about me today on my long journey!  Hopefully, we will arrive safe and sound and ready to party with the fam!

With this crazy three… it’s sure to be interesting at the very least!

Oooo, FUN! :) I love road trips! Although, with young kids, you are most certainly RIGHT about the DVD player!! ;) That's the only thing that keeps us from stopping every hour on our trips to WV. I hope you have a great time with family and can enjoy the FL sun and beaches too! :)

We certainly have the FL sun. It's extremely warm and it's only 7 am :) Beaches??? Very iffy thanks to BP. Great time with family -but of course. And about the favorite status…"absence makes the heart grow fonder." JK Mack & BA

You can do it! I remember doing this with Sam & Lawrie back in the Summer of '07, when we went to visit Danny's parents in V.A. & even though I was worried about it, it turned out to be AWESOME! We'll be prayin' for ya as you travel….
