Blog Hop… Our School Room… Ha!

btsbh
This week the theme of the Blog Hop is Showing off your School Room.  That’s funny to me because  with our tiny place there is no such luxury of having a designated place  for school or school stuff.

We are definitely in the group of those that are Schooling in Small Spaces!  We have less than a thousand square feet and soon to be 5 people living in it.  Hopefully, the elusive addition project will one day begin, but until then our school stuff is tucked here and there around the house….

Haylee has a school desk  in her room, but so far we’ve mostly worked at the kitchen table and on the couch.

When it cools off some maybe she can work on the back deck or even on the trampoline.  :)  I like using the table since I get to sit down too and spread out my stuff!
Haylee’s books are stored in the top of her closet…

and my teacher books are stored in our room, though I’m already tired of carrying these back and forth to the table each day….  Maybe I need to squeeze out some space in the kitchen cabinets, or even hide them under the table in a cute basket!  :)

Her workbox, my cute basket of daily papers/tests & quizzes, and my re-purposed drawers of supplies are in our room too….

When/If the addition is ever finished… or started, for that matter, we plan to have an office and a playroom.  So… I’m not sure which of those two rooms I’ll want to have our School things in.  I’d love to have some built in storage units in one of those two places to be able to store all this homeschool paraphernalia neatly without it looking like it’s taking over!  Not sure if that’s even possible at this point.  We’re only one week in and I can’t believe how all our HS stuff has MULTIPLIED!

Is the planning for the addition taking place? Or is it still just being talked about? I am praying for you. I know (since we're so much alike in this way) that this is not your ideal situation, but praying that it's going smoothly and that you are finding creative ways to make it work. The hidden box in the corner of the kitchen w/ your books sounds like a great idea to me. ;) Don't lug those books any more than you have to. ha ha. I can't wait for more posts. How are you feeling? How is Wade doing managing w/ this new schedule? Is it easy to keep him entertained while you work w/ Haylee? ;)

This is our first year to have a fully designated space for our seatwork. We've used the kitchen table for the last three years! Last year I did finally carve out a little cabinet space for our stuff … that helped a lot!

Your daughters pink file box is so cute … and it can go anywhere!! ;)

We did the same last year, used our dining room table, and living room bookshelves for our school supplies.

This year we are moving and planning to use our living room for our school room. Who needs a living room anyway, right? LOL

seems like you are doing a good job of squeezing out all the areas ya can. Shelves with doors are such a blessing-maybe you'll find something on Craig's list or at a garage sale? Best wishes for a great new year.

Well, I dug up a basket from the attic and have my books neatly stowed away now. :)
Wade is doing okay… Dora goes a long way, but he's also just joined us for school too. :)
He likes "helping" when she's using the magnetic letters or marble counters or coloring something. :)
