A Warehouse full of Teachers + a Bargain = Craziness!

Thursday was bonding day for mom and me at the Carson-Dellosa Warehouse Sale in Greensboro. It’s been an annual event for mom for almost the last 10 years. The first year I went with her in ’99 when I was about to embark on my first ever year of teaching. I don’t remember all the details, but mom says we got lost and arrived at the sale only when they were closing up. We only got in for a few minutes and didn’t experience the true splendor of the sale.

We only got lost once on the way this year and managed to arrive 30 minutes early. I was shocked to see that the line was already FOREVER long! I couldn’t believe it.
Once they opened the doors and let in the massive horde of teachers “patiently” waiting for so long, mayhem shopping ensued. There are no buggies at this sale. You come in and frantically grab a box and begin rushing from place to place in search of the best deals.

By the end of our shopping spree, my box was sooo full and heavy, and was sooooo incredibly awkward dragging it around! After you’re satisfied with what you got, you find a random spot on the oh-so-dirty floor and sort through your stash to see what stays and what goes.

This was my keep and put back pile. A picture to prove that I did indeed exercise some restraint (believe it or not, my dear hubby!). :)

Here’s my stash…

Some September/October

February/March-ish

All year round sets… the two on the left have accents from all seasons that you just switch out, which is kinda cool.

Christmas… the most fun to decorate, but it’s up for the shortest time!

January and some cute borders!

Okay, so apparently this year was not as good as years past, but I was excited to get deals that were awesome to me. The bulletin board sets run from $11 to $13 each retail in your local over-priced teacher store. I got 19 of them for a mere $2 each! I got 5 borders, $4 retail, for only $1.50 each. I also got 8 packs of chart stickers for a $1 each and a book for Haylee…

Drumroll please? All this ladies and gentlemen, retailing for $252, I was able to steal for only $54.50!!! :)

A bargain high… ain’t nothing like it!

I’ve always heard about it, but have never actually seen it. The way Mrs. Swaringen described it, I imagined there would be more clouds, rainbows, and sunshine. Let alone the Glory of the Lord shining round about.

Ha ha, I can just imagine you and your mom frantically running through the aisle’s pulling everything off and into your boxes! You really did get a fantastic deal, though. Great job!
