A Father’s Day Celebration

Due to improper mommy planning, Haylee took no nap yesterday before the gala at the Swaringen house. Her poor humor and disposition were thus attributed to the no nap factor, but upon arrival home we took her temperature and discovered she was running 100.9 fever. We gave her some Tylenol and put her to bed, but she crawled in bed with us early this morning still not feeling well. I got up just before 7 am and took her temperature again, and this time it was 102.5.
Now, I tend to panic slightly at high temperatures, though I know that most seasoned moms do not. I did try to call the doctor, but they do not open until 1 pm on Sundays. We gave her some Motrin, and before long she was feeling and acting better. Her tonsils are unbelievably swollen making it hard for her to talk. I have a suspicion that it could be Strep though I hope and pray it’s not. For one thing, suspicion of strep means the doctor will have to do the dreaded throat culture which turns my already hysterical-because-we’re-at-the-doctor daughter into a lunatic. For another thing, I hate to think that we have spread strep all over both sides of the family this weekend… especially our 6 day old nephew.

When Haylee started feeling a bit better we gave Daddy his Father’s Day present. He seemed to be pleased, so I think we did good. :)
It’s a matching hat and shirt that says “Property of my Family.” The shirt also says “24-7-365” which I thought was cute… though I didn’t even realize it said that until Chris pointed it out. I guess I had a blond moment, because I thought it was just random numbers. :) We also got him some new shorts and the very cool golf club pen! No man is complete without it, you know.

Haylee fell asleep on our bed, and I made Chris some breakfast like a good wife does. I even put it on a nice tray for him. The only one we have is Strawberry Shortcake, of course, but it’s the thought and effort that counts, right?

We were planning on heading to another gala at Chris’s grandparent’s this afternoon, but had to switch to just Chris dropping by and bringing us some yummy food back.

Hopefully, she will be back to normal soon. Otherwise it’s off to the evil doctor with the long and dreaded q-tip stick…

Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s in my life…. especially my most awesome hubster! ;)

Awww, happy father’s day! That’s so funny, the picture with Chris smiling over the Strawberry Shortcake tray! The things daddies will do!

I hope Hayley is feeling better, soon. I’ve been so fortunate so far that none of my kids have ever been sick enough to warrant a doctor’s visit, but I’m not looking forward to the first time!

Poor Haylee. Jacob had strep this past week. Poor thing…he said his neck hurt!

Love the shirt. Dan has a fishing one, although I thought 24-7-365 was cute. I don’t have blonde moments…just gray moments.

Sounds like ya’ll had a good day, despite Haylee’s fever! I hope she’s feeling better soon… Sammi had strep back in April & it was NO fun! And little Eli’s got an overabundance of antibodies in 6 day old immune system, so he’s probably gonna be just fine.
