A Day at the Park

Yesterday, B and I met some old friends at the Shelby Park for a playdate. Ashley and Jenifer (formerly Perrell… I don’t know their married names now…) and their little ones met us there for some playground action.
We were friends, “back in the day” as I like to say. We went to church at Morningstar Baptist in Shelby for a while, and Jen and I had lots of bonding experiences working at Harvest Time Bible Camp when I was 16 or so.
The kids had lots of fun. What kid doesn’t love the park, right? Haylee was a bit of a chicken after she wiped out on the slide, but she eventually got the courage to try, try again. Ashley and B are about the same age, and Jenifer and I are about the same age. We haven’t really seen each other in ages. It was strange to be sitting in the park, all married, watching our children play.
The park in Shelby is surprisingly very nice. :) It has a nice playground as well as a kiddie train and merry-go-round.
The train was closed :( but we made sure to take a ride on the merry-go-round before heading out.
This is Bette Anne “safely” seated on the rump of one of the horses. I’m sure her hubby will rest assured knowing her priority on safety. :) She perched here to take several shots of the action.
Haylee absolutely loves merry-go-rounds. At least this one was only 50 cents. The last one she went on was at Concord Mills and was $1.50 a ride. Highway robbery, you know.
She was happy to comply as a model for Aunt B’s many pictures.
I even got to ride. I’m young at heart as you well may know.

We had a great time. Maybe we can do it again sometime. (Side note… did you notice my new glamorous glasses? I just picked them up Wednesday and so far I love them. Well, as much as you can love something as annoying as glasses. They are blackish brown or something on the outside, but have a tiger print on the inside of the frames. :) Kind of typical of me… wild on the inside!)

We topped off the fun afternoon with a trip to Dairy Queen and got a scrumptuous Snickers Blizzard. Mmmmm!

How fun! We are fortunate enough to have a carousel here in Freeport, and Peter and Breanna love riding it in the summer. Looks like you had a fabulous day!

Oh, I noticed that you’ve been straightening your hair – I like it! Nice glasses, too. Very chic!
