Fun but Educational! Yay.

Just what you always loved your teacher or mother to say, right? When you heard of a fun but educational game or even worse a video! there were groans heard all over the room! Well these are some educational games that challenge your geography knowledge, and I found the challenge quite fun, myself. Perhaps you will too?

See how you do…

This one you have to beat the clock! Can you properly place the states within the time limit?

This one is somewhat harder since you have to place the states on a satellite map of the U.S, but it has no time limit. It is cool, because it will actually tell you how many miles off you were and keeps a running average of your mileage error and your time.

I am starting a blog as a year long writing project for my class this year and was surprised to find tons of other fifth grade blogs out on the web already! What I thought was my good idea is already going on strong. This article touting the use of classroom blogs was from 2005!

I was able to get some ideas from the blogs I found (like the above games) and have things somewhat set up already… You can check it out if you want… www.totallyfabfifthgraders.blogspot.com .

I have LESS THAN 3 WEEKS until school! I can’t believe that my five months of Baby Hiatus are rapidly coming to a close already.

We start Teacher in-service week August 11th with the first day of school being Wednesday the 20th. It will be here before I know it…

WOW– I can’t believe your summer’s almost up, either! I think a classroom blog is a GREAT idea and def. something I plan to do as well… it’s a great way to keep parents/family and students up-to-date and make them feel a part of the classroom.

I pray that the remainder of your vacation is relaxing and fun – and that you get to thoroughly enjoy your kids…

    Have a great day!

That’s really a great idea about the blog!

I love playing games like that, but that first one annoyed me a little because it wasn’t the most accurate! I think I literally put “Montana” in it’s place 10 times before it finally accepted it! :)

And the second one was definitely challenging… I wouldn’t have done near as well if I didn’t have the refresher of the first game, that’s for sure! ;)

Good luck getting everything organized for school!

Can I get you to help me make my blog into 3 columns? I looked at those instructions from awhile back like I was from another planet. I had no clue what to do.

I found this game and thought you might want to add it to your Fab Fifth grade blog… It would definitely be challenging for them, but not too crazy difficult!

It’s a map of the world, so it’s gonna be a little harder…
