Saturday was more Birthday celebrating as Bette Anne’s gift to me was a Spa package! She told me not to expect this caliber of gift in the future as this was a milestone birthday being my 30th and all. :)
She and Heather and I set out for our day of relaxation early that morning, and Chris once again watched the kiddos. He even gave them both baths while I was gone! What a guy.
We started things off right with brunch at Panera Bread. We thought it the most spa-esqe spot for brunch. :) It was splendid once again to enjoy uninterrupted conversation… A luxury that I so enjoy and appreciate these days. :)
The Spa place was nice with all its affects and sounds and scents luring you into relaxation. They began our package by leading us into a cozy private room decked out with crackers and spread, pound cake, fruit and Sparkling grape juice!
I got the fancy glass since I was the birthday girl. I think it’s quite humorous though that I’m drinking from a wine glass and they are stuck with lousy old styrofoam. :)
We had a few minutes to enjoy the goodies and then we changed into our robes and got started. I began with a facial while B and Heather had their massages.
I have never had a facial before and found it quite an interesting experience. The woman was crazy with her liberal application of various cremes, cleansers and scrubs even around my eyes, nose and mouth which left me feeling a bit paranoid at times that I was going to end up with a facial scrub up my nose. :) If you’ve never had a facial before, it’s quite unnerving to lie there while she shines a bright, blinding light on your face and begins picking and prodding here and there making various comments about what qualities she finds lacking in your face. :) But, I must say my skin was oh-so-soft as a result so the torturous light was definitely worth it!
The next hour was the massage and it was a treat to get so pampered! It was such a fun thing to do, and left us with a real spa experience. Thank you sistah for such a great birthday gift! :)
You’re welcome sistah’! ;) I really did have a great time and if Ryan is reading this… “This would prolly be a great idea for a present for your wife!”
Seriously though, really glad you had fun and I can’t believe you are 30 cause that means I’m getting old! ;)
where was that.. fun fun!!!! i have a 100 dollar gift card from my b day (in feb) that i still haven’t used to carmen and carmen.. i just don’t want to go alone.. i want a girlfriend to share it with :) …. i never had a facial either so that will be one thing i pick to use it on:)
What FUN! I had to chuckle a little at your thoughts on a facial… I think I would feel the same exact way! I don’t like people near my eyes — esp. not with liquids, etc! LOL. Glad the entire experience was a time away for you to enjoy the company of friends and family and just relax. :)
Oh, that does sound like a blast! That’s funny about your facial, though. We have a cosmetology school nearby, so I can get a wonderful, relaxing facial for only $5! (The hard part is getting a babysitter during the day . . .) I’ve never had the “cream up the nose” experience before, though! That would be unpleasant!
I had so much fun too!!!! We all need to do it again sometime…(hint to husbands everywhere-great gift!!!)
;)
