Thought of the Day…

You know I’m reading through the Bible this year, and I’m currently in Ecclesiastes. I read a verse this morning that really stuck out to me. I don’t remember ever reading or hearing it before. It’s definitely one that I need.

Ec 7: 21-22
Also do not take to heart everything people say,
Lest you hear your servant cursing you.
For many times, also, your own heart has known
That even you have cursed others.

My dear husband, Chris, will readily tell you that his wife is all too sensitive. I am completely capable of taking the smallest insult spoken in jest and turning it into a huge offense in my poor little mind.

I am not proud of it, okay, but it is part of what makes me, me. I think that it goes along with being compassionate and loving. I can’t even watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition without crying, although, I do try to do it unobtrusively. :) Along with the compassion comes this glaring fault. I know that I need to work on it and toughen up some. This verse reminds me that I am guilty of speaking unkind words at times, so I shouldn’t get upset when I hear unkind things from others.

Pregnancy hormones will only make the sensitivity worse (poor Chris). I remember when I was pregnant with Haylee, Chris brought me my dinner and even my drink. I got sooooo upset because he hadn’t brought me the drink I wanted. :) So I know I need to keep my feelings in check and let love cover a multitude of sins…. Not that bringing me the wrong beverage would fall into the category of sins… :)

I know these thoughts are nothing earth-shattering, but it is something that I thought worth sharing…

You and I are so much alike… (I cry at Ext. Home Makeover too…that’s why I stopped watching it) I am too compassionate and caring to a fault. And when I was pregnant, … my hormones were all over the place! It’s worth it though, huh? ;) Thanks for sharing your great insight. That is a good verse and a very valid point to be made to all of us. Have a great day!

Isn’t it so awesome how every time you read the Word of God, He shows something new?!?! Great reminder, by the way…

Your “Thought for the Day” certainly hit home for me. I have been accused of being to sensitive more times than I care to remember. I have learned the hard way that being too compassionate and caring can be taken the wrong way by others. It is just really hard when that is who you really are. I am a very loving and caring person, but definitly have my faults. Thanks for the verse and your insight. I am going to apply it, as well as, give it much more thought.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes even unintentional things people say bother me for days, and it’s difficult to get over. However, I think you have exactly the right spirit about it, and I’m sure the Lord will help you find a way to combat!
