As if Saturday wasn’t exciting enough…

Saturday evening after our big adventures, we decided to grill some brats with the crowd on the new grill. It was pretty late by the time we ate, and we were all pretty exhausted.

Sam and David paid the big bucks for the professional video, so we had fun watching that and our amateur footage too.

They all decided to head home, and Sam was stunned to open the back door and see shooting flames!
He then informed us that our brand new lovely deck was on fire. We all jumped up, quite awake after that proclamation.
We began freaking out while Chris thought rationally and ran down to turn on the water hose. It was actually our humongous city trash can that was engulfed, and he quickly doused the flames.
A few boards of the deck did get quite singed as well and may need to be replaced, but it could have been much worse. If they had not left when they did, we may have lost the whole deck or even worse, our beloved little house!

The culprit was actually some ashes that Chris threw into the trash can about 2 and a half hours earlier. Those little ashes grew into a fire that obliterated our trash can and was starting to work on our deck.

Who would’ve thought?

What exactly do you throw in a trash can to ignite it? Praise the Lord for the timing of your friends and their departure. Hopefully it won’t be too hard to fix. Guess you gotta explain why you need one of those huge trash cans.:)
