He’s Here!

Just writing a quick update… Elijah Luke arrived today at 2:46 pm weighing in at 9 lbs 3 oz, 22 inches long with a nice big 15 inch head!

Bette Anne got the Pitocin at 7:30 am, was dilated to 1 cm at 8:30 am, and then to 4 cm at 11:30 am. The doctor predicted the baby would arrive around supper time, but much to our surprise she was fully dilated at 1:30 pm. In all, she was in “real labor” for a little over 5 hours and pushed for about 50 minutes.

She did really well, and so did Ryan. He came charging, and I mean charging into the room about 11:15 am. He literally threw the door open and ran for the bed. They shared a long hug while I tried to snap some pictures and teared up!

She was so relieved to have him there. The nurses were all loving their special story and seemed to want to share it with everyone. They just couldn’t believe that he had flown in from Iraq this morning!

When I told Haylee last night that Uncle Ryan was coming, she asked, “Is he done fighting people?” If only…

She also asked if baby Eli was going to have blood all on him when he came out!
I don’t know where she gets the things that come out of her mouth!

Mom and baby are doing well!!!

B’s 26th birthday is tomorrow. It should be a very interesting one spent in a hospital room recovering with a brand new baby! I’m sure it will be one she will never forget.

I’ll have to post pics later…. :(

CONGRATULATIONS! Oh, that story of Ryan . . . I’m getting all teary-eyed (waving hands idiotically in front of eyes).
