My Handy Hubby…

I really feel fortunate and oh so proud to have such a handy hubby. He is such a hard worker, and seems to just know how to do everything! :) He’s been working a few projects recently. He has re-seeded the front lawn and planted hostas down the front of the house. I am particularly relieved to have the lawn done since we had a truck load of dirt delivered quite a while ago which ended up blocking the front steps almost completely.
So for the past month probably we’ve been waiting to get the dirt spread to give us our desired positive drainage. I know the neighbors loved us with our Mount Vesuvius in the front lawn. :)
Chris also painted our front door a lovely, vibrant red which I love, love, love. You know I’m crazy about red, right? I am just loving how it looks as we drive down the road… hehe. :)
This week, he is off work building us a fantabulous new deck he designed himself. He is on day three of the project now and has survived sunburn and sliced fingertip. I think our old deck was the last of what was left of the house in its original condition. Now we’ve reached complete renovation… well, almost.

This new deck includes 3, yes 3, sets of steps. If there is an emergency, you’ll be sure to find an exit nearby. :) His original design included 2 sets of steps going off in opposite directions at the end of the deck, but he included the 3rd set to appease me. We have a small awning off the back door and a carport for the cars which left you rushing only the few feet of stairs that are uncovered in the rain. He wanted to make me walk all the way to the end of the deck, down and over several feet to the carport. I know these issues aren’t that important to him since they don’t have much affect on his quality of life, but I don’t care to have to haul in my grocery load in the rain, or tote Haylee in the house through the rain, or have to redo my ‘do because of the rain. So my sweet, obliging hubster gave me my own set of stairs. :) You can see them on the far right of the picture…
Unfortunately, we didn’t think to take a “before” pic so a true appreciation can not be reached!

I decided to try my hand or should I say my not so green thumb at sprucing up the front porch a bit. I searched up and down the Garden aisles of Lowes trying to decide which plants looked the hardiest… the most able to survive life with me! These say they are supposed to be able to make it in the full sun, so we shall see… I shall never attain to my husband’s level of handiness, but I can try…

Awww, that’s so sweet! Our house has a red door, too, and I just love the effect. I think our paint color is “Americana”, and I just love it!

Your porch is really nice, too, and your comments about getting your very own stair is really funny! (Kind of like having a “red carpet” stair all for yourself.)

    Good luck with your flowers!
